Who is the "Primary cardholder"?
The Primary Cardholer is the person who originally applied for the credit card.
Can I use my credit card immediately after activating it?
Yes, once you've successfully completed the activation process, your card will be ready for use.
Why do I need to activate my card?
For your protection, the credit card activation process is designed to ensure that only you, the primary cardholder, receives and activates your Scotiabank credit card.
What is the "old card - expiry date"?
This refers to the 4-digit expiration date of your current Scotiabank credit card.
What is the Card Verification Value?
The Card Verification Value consists of the last 3 digits printed on or beside the signature panel on the back of your credit card. Please see the examples below.

I tried to activate my credit card online and a message came up on the screen telling me to call a 1-800 number. Does this mean I cannot activate my card online?
You may have encountered an error while attempting to activate your credit card. Please call 1-800-806-8600 and one of our customer service representatives will gladly assist you in activating your credit card(s).
What do I do with my old card?
For security reasons, please destroy your old Scotiabank credit card(s) once you've activated your new credit card(s).
